Nearly 40 % of Europeans suffer mental illness

News from Europe. For those not following world market conditions, the economy in most Euro zone nations is a not good. Greece is teetering on economic default, Italy along with Portugal are having similar financial crisis.
Why are so many Euro zone nations in financial distress? Some economist says the reasons are complex. Others say one simply has to look at where these governments spend money, what comes in and economic history of these nations play a factor.

All the nations’ mentioned above a social democracies. In one form or another the citizens of these nations have cradle to grave health care, education for those smart enough paid through the university level. Generous retirement plans.

For those fortunate to work for the above governments, great pay, great
benefits and long holidays.

Such generosity has a high cost. Aging populations, old infrastructures are adding to expenses that have been climbing for years. One would think living in a socialist utopia like the Euro zone would be paradise.
Europeans are plagued by mental and neurological illnesses, with almost 165 million people or 38 percent of the population suffering eachyear from a brain disorder such as depression, anxiety, insomnia or dementia, according to a large new study.
With only about a third of cases receiving the therapy or medication needed, mental illnesses cause a huge economic and social burden --measured in the hundreds of billions of Euros -- as sufferers become too unwell to work and personal relationships break down.

"Mental disorders have become Europe's largest health challenge of the 21st century," the study's authors said.

The study quoted by Reuters also claims that by 2020, depression will be the second leading contributor to the global illness across
all age groups.

I would think that immigrating to the Euro zone will become vastly less popular.
One has to wonder if such rampant mental illness can explain riots that shook
Europe during recent months.
Do not forget soccer riots. Crowded soccer stadiums are the scenes of frequent
riots and mayhem.
Perhaps living in a society that removes most and some cases all responsibility for controlling what one does with life, removes one of the key factors for mental health.
The drive to grow and thrive is absent when everything is provided by a nanny state.
What do you think?
Sagacious responses only.

Research shows there are even higher percentage of people with mental illness in USA than anywhere else in the world which accounts for the numerous mass massacres (especially in schools), shooting, muggings, rapes, murders, riots etc, that people are simply getting use to these days.

Why? Well the country s bankrupt. They survive by purely printing paper money. Wonder why US currency are all the same colour – so that it is cheap and easy to print them.

Why are there so many obese people, mobile homes, caravans etc in the USA – because they are all on social welfare. If they can’t get any more welfare in one state, they simply move to another state to claim social welfare – so they live in caravans or mobile homes to make it easy to move from state to state.

Wonder why if a typhoon blows through Hong Kong or Taiwan or South China, they can withstand the wind and a lot of builds will remain intact, but every time a tornado goes through an American town, few buildings will remain and you can only see a few brick and concrete buildings standing around - that is because most of the homes are build of fibroid or timber plank with a tin roof ( something like kampong lah ) and designed to be mobile (i.e. no firm foundation) – because the people are poor and can’t afford to build strong houses and they want to move from state to state to claim welfare!

Bloomberg News says “U.S. Census Data Shows Rising Poverty” and here is the url

Why are there such thing called “FOOD STAMPS” used in the USA – one will think these are relics of the communist countries – because under USA social welfare, to prevent these buggers from spending the money on alcohol, they are issued with food stamps in lieu of cash, so that the welfare money can only be spend on food!

But why are the rich not contributing to the country’s welfare as Warren Buffett urged them to do so. It is hypocrisy, greet, prejudice, bias and selfishness which unfortunately are the natural make-up of the American people’s psyche!

They always criticise others but never look at themselves. E.g. if terrorist attack countries that are unfriendly to USA, US will call them “Freedom Fighters”, but if such people attack USA or her allies, then US will call them “Bastard cowardly terrorist infidels”. Not only that US will torture them - totally against human rights and against the Geneva Convention. It is a hypocritically nation covering up their crimes against humanity!

Drugs contribute a lot to mental instability and USA is the world’s greatest narcotics empire.

Europe's financial problems are a result of their people focusing their energies on football rather than productivity in their employment. Their mental problems are a result of stress caused by their favourite teams in competitions. I should know...I am one of those stressed out when my favourite European team plays....and I am an Asian. What more European crazy football fans! lol
