9/11 - Ten Years After

10 years

Passing so quickly.

People going to work, to school, to fly to another city.

So many memories-

Shock...

Pain..

Sorrow...

Anger...

Compassion...

Determination...

September, a day with a brilliant blue fall sky...

Many reading this were children.
An entire generation has been born since.

Singapore and other parts of Asia had varied reactions to the events that occurred 15300 kilometers away. New York is literally on the other side of this Earth.

Where were you on September 11 or 12, 2001?

Can you share any memories from 9/11?

Do Americans feel compasion when they shot up innocent babies, children, women etc?

Anonymous,

Do you as a Singaporean feel compassion if you have an innocent family member killed in one of the twin towers on 9/11?

The day the US went after the perpetrators of the 9/11 is the day I remember I rejoiced.

It has taken ten years and if it has to go on for another 10, so be it.

Singapore too has played her part. I salute our leaders for not hiding in holes the likes of which the poor fella Con-Mic has dug for himself.....but to take the offensive to the Muslim extremist fanatics.

These so-called twisted Muslims are a shame to the majority of good Muslims around the world.

However, the day I see the majority of Muslims (who are undoubtedly good muslims who practise their faith correctly) come out forcefully in the open to condemn (and do more if necessary) these radical Islamist fanatics to such an extent that the latter will find their cause a shameful and hopeless one is the day I will stop doubting about Muslims in general. Instead I see the reverse where these fanatics seem to perpetuate their cause with so much pride and with relative ease and with only lip service and a whimper of a customary or diplomatic condemnation from the moderate Muslims.

Whenever I see a Muslim whom I do not know well personally, I start my doubts and suspicions about him. I see this as an unfortunate and even wrong reaction or behaviour on my part because I have many Muslim friends and I believe Islam is a benign and good religion just as any other religion if practised correctly.

So I say the onus is on the Muslim community in the whole world to act forcefully against the extremists. Otherwise it will always be a chicken and egg problem. Someone must take the initiative. Since these are Muslim fanatics, its up to you Muslims to take that road first.
