Cheating gene found!

3
In my previous post, [Is there such a thing as a cheating gene?], I wrote that a cheating gene might exist so women shouldn't hope and pray for their cheating partners to stop cheating.

Now, researchers have found a cheating gene! An internal drive for a ‘rush’ of could explain why some people seem incapable of remaining faithful.

Individuals with a certain variant of the DRD4 gene, which makes them have an strong urge for a "rush" of dopamine, were more likely to have a history of uncommitted sex, including one-night stands and acts of infidelity. In uncommitted sex, the risks are high, the rewards substantial and the motivation variable – all elements that ensure a dopamine "rush".

I'm not saying that people should be excused because they have the cheating gene but rather that their partners should make the decision to stay or leave based on knowledge that they would never change.

Yu-Kym,

DRD4 has already been linked to alcoholism and gambling addiction and other risk-taking behaviour.

Also - "Last month, scientists found that the same strain of the DRD4 gene can also make people have more liberal views.

Because the genetic variant drives people to seek out ‘novelty’, it can also make people more likely to seek out less conventional political views, the U.S. study found.

Those with the gene supposedly seek out other people’s points of view and are influenced by them far more than those without the gene.

In the U.S. this mean that people with the gene were more likely to have a liberal political viewpoint."

From: http://www.genomenewsnetwork.org/articles/09_00/DRD4_gene.shtml

DRD4 has been linked to an increased risk for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD.

Other studies have linked the gene with stronger sex drives.

Being very a conservative and boring person I can presume I do not carry this gene.

Unless of course on considers skiing on snow or riding the occasional zip line risk taking activities. (no I do not think these count.)

Most of the reference articles mention that DRD4 gene contributes towards behavioural tendencies.

Nuture during childhood years, eduaction, and other factors mean that many with the DRD4 gene remain faithful and do not engage in affairs or otherwise cheat on a spouse.

For others, think weak willed types, this is all the exuces they need.

Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first.
