Is that an elephant in your trunks?

Picture from

This was what the Singapore men's water polo team wore.

Now the designers are in BIG trouble.

I think Singaporeans are too uptight about small (in this case maybe big :D ) things.

The design is definitely eye-catching and unforgettable. If you display that pair of swimming trunks in the museum, I'm sure it will make a few people smile. Singapore has produced many great products but how many are creative, unforgettable and yet functional?

Let's face it: we're B-O-R-I-N-G people. Whenever someone comes up with something creative, we shoot them down and demand that they join the rest of us, boring people. And every now and then we need to go to Bangkok to buy cheap t-shirts with elephants on them because Singapore doesn't produce such stuff.

If I see a guy wearing swimming trunks like that at the pool, I might chat him up. At least it won't be difficult to find something to say. Unfortunately, those swimming trunks are banned.

It is nothing to do with creativity. Generally it is internationally-recognized as being the symbol of the faith of Islam, just like cross represents Christian. In other words, the designer has made offence to Muslims unintentionally. In fact, Singapore lies between Indonesia and Malaysia, both of them are Islamic countries. Therefore, most Muslims from these two countries are very sensitive with this kind of issue. They think that you are challenging them.

The symbol that Muslims use is one crescent moon with its opening on the right and one star within the circumference of the moon. The Singapore flag has one crescent moon and a group of a circle of 5 stars on the right of the moon but located outside the circumference of the moon. It's our flag, not their symbol that was on the swimming trunks.

It just shows Sillypore being dumb. People are offended because it depicts a curved defective dick rather than a huge big one with a helmet-like dick-head!.

Singapore should change it flag to depict a huge cannon!

They should have moved the design to position the stars where the balls are and then they can claim "I am better than you because I have 5 balls"!

Muslims get upset thinking that Stinkis piss on their symbol!

A cresent moon and 5 stars is not the Muslim symbol.

"As for the issue you raised, we’d like to state that “the crescent moon and star symbol actually pre-dates Islam by several thousand years. Information on the origins of the symbol are difficult to ascertain, but most sources agree that these ancient celestial symbols were in use by the peoples of Central Asia and Siberia in their worship of sun, moon, and sky gods. There are also reports that the crescent moon and star were used to represent the Carthaginian goddess Tanit or the Greek goddess Diana.
