The "undress" code

16
My (male) friend who was going to attend a beach party at Sentosa told me that he was going to buy himself a pair of board shorts. He's a swimmer so he has swimming trunks for sure.

I've never been the sort who would buy a new dress just for a party so I asked him why he couldn't wear his swimming trunks there.

He: I think my female friends would not like it. Swimming trunks are too revealing. I don't want them to think I'm a pervert.
Me: What will your female friends would be wearing?
He: Bikinis, I guess. Gals there usually wear bikinis.

Why is it socially acceptable for women to wear bikinis at beach parties but it is not acceptable for men to wear swimming trunks?

At the swimming pool, it's the other way round: most men there wear swimming trunks and most women there wear 1-piece swimsuits. What's going on?? Perhaps for "serious" swimming, men are supposed to wear swimming trunks and women are supposed to wear swimsuits.

For beach parties however, women are supposed to bare as much skin as possible and men are supposed to cover up. I think it's silly for women to pay money to get ogled at or, worse still, molested.

The body and anatomy of a woman is one of the most beautiful creations by our Maker (if there is indeed a Maker). The body of a man and his penis is one of the ugliest works from this same Maker.

I cannot understand why our Maker is somehow considered perfect for this repulsive specimen of a homo sapien! But that is another story.

So I can appreciate why the girls flaunt their flesh. And oh how i thank them so. lol But I still cannot fathom why the men are mostly all covered up unless they too feel they best not show their uglies beside the beauts. Wise, very wise. lol

I think so too that its silly to remark that women pay money to get ogled at and worse still, get molested. It's so shallow, bellicose or chauvinistic attitude.

I think so too that your male friend has some kind of weird mindset to think the way he does....that ppl might mistake him for a pervert for his choice of swimwear. The way he thinks.. the very label he wishes to avoid comes full circle back to him.

Erm... and if you take skimpy pictures and place them online?

Yu-Kym,

A marvelous post.

My comments reflect the fact that I have not been to beach in quite a few years.

I have never worn swim trunks.
(nor should I ever...)

To many pics have been posted of males who should have NEVER, NEVER, EVER been allowed near the store selling such.

I do believe there is a difference between ogling a women in the appreciative sense of being healthy and attractive in appearance, rather than leering at women.

Otherwise Ms. Loh, why would you post photos of yourself in a bikini, your derrière in a thong, or a little decolletage?(tastefully displayed.)

BTW, those photos are very nice.

Curious Cat, cease your questioning the existence of a Creator. Be assured the Creator exist. Your frequent use of this phrase indicates your uncertainty on the Lord's existence. I do believe you admitted to praying during exam periods.

Now you do not have worry, the Creator cares for you and loves you beyond a feeble human comprehension of such feeling. The Lord does this whether one acknowledges His existence of not.

Men and women were made to compliment the other. Males and females do this supremely well. What ruins many relations is the individuals freedom to make wrong decisions.

Back to the swim-wear discussion; women can be out of shape for bikinis as men can be to out of shape to wear any swim-wear.

There are thong bikini's and micro-bikini's, (thing South beach Miami and I believe Thai beaches) that leaver VERY LITTLE to the imagination.

Females wearing such minimal swim-wear are inviting leering and for some males that is enough to drive them to attempts at molesting the women wearing these skimpy bikinis.

Hahaha David,

What do you possess that gives you the conviction to assure me that the Creator exists and that The Lord cares for all? Faith for one? Faith is without substantial truth or proof. It's like having faith that Saddam Hussein possess weapons of mass destruction and look what did the US get into? Although I must add that it was nevertheless right that Saddam be kicked out of Iraq by Bush whatever the excuses. lol

Yes, I am uncertain of the Creator's existence. But I do hope that he exist. It is precisely because human beings are feeble that they have to rely on religion and God's existence for comfort and security. I am not that feeble but I am not all that super strong either. So I still do need spiritual help sometimes.... just before my exam results are announced. Or when I am I want to escape deep shit. lol

Surely, when you can't convince me, you can't expect me to cease my questioning anything? lol

"it is discomforting to know that God put the blinkers over the eyes of the faithful and at the same time he guides them to see tomorrow more clearly. Not that they saw yesterday clearly either!"

Pls help David cease my questioning. Refuse to post my comments!

That's how believers shut the non-believers. "Cease your questioning!" Whilst they themselves continue to exhort their "faith"! lol

Gosh the hypocrisy of it all!

Yu-Kym,

As I stated to you in my PM.

Curious Cat, please accept my apology for offending you.

My poorly worded introduction was indeed taken in the worse possible meaning, and that is my fault.

You are entitled to believe in what ever form of deity or lack off.

I should have worded the intro using, CC know that a Creator exist, and that you need not worry about Him.

BTW, as we are on this topic of endless discussion, please indulge this last question. Are you agnostic, believing that God(s) existence cannot be proven, or are you a theist; believing that while God exist, the Creator is no longer interested or pays attention to human kind.

Please know that while my previous words may have made me look a hypocrite, I would never force anyone to accept my views. That is wrong, unethical and goes against everything that as Christian I believe.

I am deeply sorry for the offense.

I think it's more of a personal issue. I am pretty sure guys do not want to publicly advertise that they have a small penis.

Girls cant hide it, we can still tell their size even if they are fully clothed but not guys. My 2 cents

The strange thing about atheist is that..They do not believe in God ever exist but they are afraid of the dark, places rumour to be haunted, ghosts and supernatural.
How ironic.

"I ain't afraid of the cops, I am terrify of psychotic criminals."
"Why?"
"Cos they can whip my ass."
"Cops can't do that to me, cos I am protected by my Human Rights."

David, many who scoff or mock at God in the face thinks God can't do any thing about them.
That's why God leave them alone to deal with the Devil and let that Psychotic Insane angel turn their life upside down.

I am not too bother about people making fun of Christianity cos, sometimes, most of the Christians are at fault of trying too hard to preach down into their throat.
Suffocating them to the point of getting repulsive against their good (Subjective) intention.

David,

Apologies not necessary but graciously accepted in anycase. We should be able to agree or disagree in good spirit and fun without animosity. I like the cut and thrusts of a debate with intelligent ppl like you. They are easier to "deal" with. Pls dont take the language with offense.. i just love rubbing it in. lol

You are indeed a great man as shown by your response. For a moment I had actually wondered if I was wrong in my initial impression of you. But now I glad to know that I am indeed right that you are a good man and will pray for God to bless you and your family.

If I pray, I am not a hypocrite. I do so because if it may help, why not? Does it detract or cost me anything?

Sometimes I am confused which is which... but I think I am all. I am agnostic, a theist or an atheist? And I also hope that God exists! Is that at all possible?

I am somewhat an atheist but I am not afraid of the dark, nor ghosts nor the haunted plcs .. although i do get the shivers too when my mind plays fright nite on me too much. I am only afraid of big flying cockroaches and only one movie - the original "Exorcist". That's the truth. So how?

I am afraid of the cops coz I have been drinking and I'm afraid they will take my driving license away from me. So how again?

Just as God can reward you for your support and belief in him (provided you do good in life hehe), I also believe that if one scoffs at God unreasonably, harm could someday befall him or her. So be careful those who mock and deride Him without basis. But if you doubt his existence or his performance with reason and objectivity I'm sure he will understand and take it in good stride.

That's the wonder of God. He can make life easy or hard for you. He is two sides of the same coin like I always viewed.

David is one of the few exceptions to all the "stuff it down your throat" Christians out there.

Are you sure about the girls? lol

Most beach parties in SG aren't free of charge. Women have to pay. At least I don't have to pay a cent for posting my pictures online.

Guys can hide their size when they are fully clothed?

I know one thing for sure...that girls can hide their size much much better than the boys! Even their make up can hide their faces deceptively well, not to mention only their bodies.

As for the boys, what is there that they have to incur so much trouble to hide anyway? Guys again have it easy. Lucky bastards. lol
