How to determine bustline from bra size

(What I wrote in [Something wrong with bustline measurements?] become distorted in [The Star]. In my post, I did not accuse the contestants of giving fake measurements or of being untruthful. And whatever I was "quoted saying" by The Star was never written or said by me. )

If a woman tells you her bra size, how do you determine her bustline measurement?
You take her bra band size and minus 4 or 5, then add 1" if the cup size is A, 2" if it's B, etc. Why minus 4 or 5? It's just reverse computation from how bra band size is determined.

E.g. 1: Bra size 32A
Best case is 32 - 4 + 1 = 29"
Worst case is 32 - 5 + 1 = 28"

E.g. 2: Bra size 34B
Best case is 34 - 4 + 2 = 32"
Worst case is 34 - 5 + 2 = 31"

E.g. 3: Bra size 34C
Best case is 34 - 4 + 3 = 33"
Worst case is 34 - 5 + 3 = 32"

E.g. 4: Bra size 34D
Best case is 34 - 4 + 4 = 34"
Worst case is 34 - 5 + 4 = 33"

E.g. 5: Bra size 36C
Best case is 36 - 4 + 3 = 35"
Worst case is 36 - 5 + 3 = 34"

E.g. 6: Bra size 32DDD
Best case is 32 - 4 + 6 = 34"
Worst case is 32 - 5 + 6 = 33"

Women who wear size 34D, 36C or 32DDD/32F possess the much enviable 34" bustlines of Victoria Secrets models. I do apologise to women who fake their bustline measurements - sorry, you're busted!

Yes, I hope this will be a useful and proper guide to help ladies choose properly. Please help to forward to family, friends and enemies.

I'm sure accidental "down blouse" is embarrassing to ladies already. But "down bra" is worse.

So a uber fat woman wearing bra size 38A will have a bustline of 38 - 5 + 1 = 34"?

And a 36B will also have a bustline of 36 - 4 + 2 = 34"?

i mean like, duh.

thanks Cheng!

Yes, your calculations are correct.
38A can be 34" or 35".
36B can be 34" or 33".

That's why the waist and hip measurements are important too.

i find your blog very informative and what you said in the last sentence was spot on!

in relation to that, kim wakerman of kids central tends to show a lot of cleavage in her blog. she denies wearing push up bras though. i find it quite disturbing to have so-called role models like that for kids.
