Earth day and global warming

2
The weather felt cool this morning so I wore a shirt to the office - big mistake! The sun was scorching hot when I stepped out for lunch. When I got home after work I couldn't wait to get my shirt off! It gets hotter and hotter each year!

You probably already know that Earth Day's coming. We are encouraged to turn off the lights at 8.30pm on 28th March so I bet many of you will be surfing the net in the dark. It's no doubt at all that human beings contribute to global warming. In attempt to fight global warming, some people send out invitations on facebook that encourage others to fight global warming. Ironically, each click you make on your computer contributes to global warming. Every sms or msn message you send contributes to global warming. So instead of trying to "spread the message", it would be better for everyone to turn off all electronic devices including computers, aircons, tvs, radios, water heaters and handphones. But because we won't have many choices of non-electronic entertainment perhaps we might wind up in bed making babies. The babies in turn would cause global warming. Gosh! I guess there might not be any way to stop global warming after all!

Wonder why there has been more natural disasters in the recent years? Don't blame it on God or the devil. I think it's Earth's way of fighting back through "natural" population control.

Yu-Kym,

I celebrated a different day.

Human Acheivement Hour.

The Competitive Enterprise Institute, a leading free-market think tank, plans to recognize “Human Achievement Hour” between 8:30pm and 9:30pm on March 28, 2009. The new one-hour holiday coincides with Earth Hour, a period of time during which governments, individuals, and corporations have agreed to dim or shut off lights in an effort to draw attention to climate change.

“We are so proud that millions of people plan to show their appreciation for human achievement by doing things like eating dinner, watching television, going to the movies, and brushing their teeth,” says Human Achievement Hour Founder and CEI Policy Analyst Michelle Minton. “Never before has a new holiday caught on so quickly.

Other organizations around the world and the nation have planned events in support of the new holiday. For example, The United State Marine Corps will continue its combat and humanitarian operations around the world during Human Achievement Hour”

BTW, here at 43.83 north in the northern hemisphere this summer is being called the summer without summer. We have had only a handful of +30C days, when typically there are 12-20 such days. An early and cool fall is predicted along with a colder than average winter. (temps lower 2C to -16C will be expected.

I trust you are open to different points of view.
